This has been moved to a top priority for us and will be getting faster and faster over the coming days to week. Also you can try this free plugin for Firefox to help with the speed when browsing the site: http://fasterfox.mozdev.org/.
The plugin increases page load time for example by using a few connections at once to download a page. Once you have downloaded, set it to 'Turbocharged' in the options. Hopefully you'll see a big difference on our site and others.

Keep working on speeding things up. The site slowness will be a definite factor in dicouraging potential buyers. Wish I knew some tricks for increasing speed but I don't have any ideas.
